What did you spend on Fishing this year?

I thought this would be an interesting thread. While we sportfishermen are fractured in our organization - compared to the "special interests" - we are not fractured when it comes to our spending habits. I know enough about business to realize that we contribute WAY more to the economy than the provincial and federal governments realize.

As a saltwater sportfishermen, what type of money did you spend this year on:

If the wifey see's this:priceless

Not enough if you ask me and too much if you ask my wife......same as hunting.

But the freezer is full, there is a few cases of canned salmon and a bunch of smoked.

I can never put a price on something I love to do, because if I did, I would probably stop doing it..........

Cheers

SS

I refuse to answer this, my wife would use it against me. In her mind she would have to spend that much and a little more just to be even.

Lots, but not too much.
When having this sports vs others debate, I feel it's fair to point out that I would have spent this money in BC anyway, and much of it ends up offshore. Eg, tackle, boats and rum are imported. My net contribution to the BC economy is a wash. To play the devil's advocate, the one's bringing money into BC are out of province guests, and exported commercial fish. I do transfer money from the interior to the coastal communities.

Grand Total of $44,535 But alot of this was investing in the future.

Lot's and lot's and................same as every year.

Heck my season is over and I just spent over 4 grand on electronics the other day:eek:. It's never ending:rolleyes:.

No comment. Fishing is not a money making sport, and worth every penny to enjoy. For all I know my wife posted this thread!!!

High Five

My wife is my fishing partner so I don't have any secrets there. I don't keep track of what I spend. If I need gas, I buy it. If I need anything else I buy it. It would probably be a lot cheaper to buy my fish but where's the fun in that?

I echo what Dave says to a Tee, I know its absolutely huge this year and we keep everything in a file on it for insurance purposes but I aint gonna add it up cause I dont care, its way too much family fun
and you can't put a price on that!

I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate me. I can say that it was my disposable income and possibly more at times.

All I know is that of the many obsessions I have had, I spent way more on women and liquor than boating and fishing, but fishing rarely talks back, won't take half my assets, and there is no hangover. It feeds my soul.
