What Did You Do To Your Boat This Week?

Boat is going in this week to get a new Lonestar GX2 drum winch/anchor system installed. And some C links on the rode for quick releases. Also getting a remote spot light on the roof and a diesel heater installed. Should have had this stuff done when I bought the boat in the Summer but I was eager to get it fishing. Perfect time now to do it right before the busy season starts.

Pics to follow. Can't wait for the drum winch!!

Put a new stereo in the boat. My lowrance sonic hub crapped out so this was a cheap alternative to get some tunes on the water
So installed the same unit as you know so ive found using bluetooth you have to turn it off then on again for it to pair up to my phone.
I think it may be that for my boat anyway as as soon as my battery switch is turned on my acc. all turn in including the radio... just aheads up iit doesnt want to pair. hope that helps

I’ll check next time I’m out thanks for the heads up

Went to change sending unit in the gut tank of the 20’ hourston last fall, it kept hanging up at 3/4 tank. Was a fair bit of corrosion around the flanges and ground tab, decided to delete the tank as the saddle tanks are mint and plenty of capacity for day trips. She now sports a nice 45ish gallon kill tank, she’ll be back up for sale soon. Will start hanging a 225 etec on her next weekend. Might even have a spare kicker that runs. Will be a great fishing machine for someone, zero rot in her and a lot more torsionally stiff than factory with the mods I did a few years ago.

I have the same unit and it's been great for me. Installed in an open console boat, it handles heavy rain and saltwater and still running like new after 4 years.

I don't have the issue you describe. I have it wired to the battery switch as well, but I turn it on using the stereos power button when I want to use it and usually turn it off when I'm done. It automatically pairs quickly every time.

The only complaint is that I tried to put some music on a usb stick and if you put too much music on, it doesn't handle it well. It also can't read some common formats. Much easier to use a phone with bluetooth.

You are going to really like that LoneStar setup . Did you spring for the dash line counter ?

It's not installed yet. I put the installation on hold for a couple days as I think I'm going to trade my boat in for a bigger one then get the drum winch installed on the new bigger boat.

No, I had no idea about the counter so I'm gonna look into that right now. Thanks for the info 👍

The deal is done :) I traded my 2025 Thunderjet 22 Alexis Pro for a beautiful new 2026 Thunderjet 26 Alexis Pro XL :)

They are doing some additions to it for me this week. I'm getting the twin Merc 225 CXL's swapped to twin Merc 225 Seapro's, getting the Lone Star GX2 drum winch put on it with the digital counter, and a remote spot light installed. It already comes super loaded so just wanted to add a couple things I've been wanting. I'm so stoked and can't wait. I've missed my Weldcraft 260 so much since I sold it so I couldn't pass this one up. Alberni Power And Marine has treated me so good over the years with all of my boat purchases. Love dealing with those guys. Gonna be a lot nicer heading off shore with the bigger boat.

Most of the pics are from their website. I just took a couple when I was there.

Who makes those trick downrigger bases? Nice rig. Congrats. It’s a big deal to buy a new boat. Enjoy it.

Why the swap to the sea pros? What a great weapon!! Congrats on the move up.

Thank you!
They are more of a commercial grade motor. I know several people with them that love them. They come highly recommended. They produce more torque at lower RPM over the CXL's as well. They are build heavier duty than the rec motors and are built to last a lot longer.

Is it true that the warranties are not the same as they are classed as a commercial motor? I believe that’s how it goes.

The 225 Seapro’s are also the 4.6L V8 vs the 225 cxl which is a 3.4L V6, that’s where all of the torque comes from. That’s going to be a lot of get up and go for that boat 👍

No. My shiny new 300 Seapro has full warranty as registered with mercury for pleasure use which is 7 years with the current promo. Simply needs to be registered in your name by march 31 2026 to qualify.
