What Did You Do To Your Boat This Week?

The last weekend in May I lost a Scotty Powerlock rod holder from an angled flush-mount adapter when I went to set the hook on a ling. I thought they locked at 90 degrees from inserting them but nope, they pop out easy and sink quickly.
So some pre-measuring and a trip to Harbour Chandler had me installing Burnewiin mounts in between showers over the last couple of days.
It took some fiddling because I didn’t want to cut up the Ultradeck and I wanted to bolt them on with the Burnewiin backing plate. 52D57B46-3C56-4642-80DB-39C675FB9FBE.jpeg7D3DD839-9365-419D-878B-A80D669ECFA7.jpeg

Hauled boat out from the spring halibut season, POWERWASHED cleaned pod and 60 grit sand papered it and acid washed it . 2 part epoxy going on this am / evening and again tomorrow then fancy bottom paint....

Finally decided it was time to upgrade some electronics and transducers. Out with the old hdsgen2 10 and in with the carbon 9. Not super happy about the smaller screen size but way better resolution and nice to have the touch screen along with the gen3 7 I’ve already got. Pretty decent hole left from the 10 and a few old gauges so decided to buy a piece of 1/4” starboard and cut to size. Installed the 3 in 1 active image that came with the carbon and a new P66 for the deeper water. Will flip up my other transducers and keep as backups. Put in a newer Alpine Bluetooth stereo as well. Hope to get out and test out the new setup this weekend. Well, here’s the first sneak peak literally just picked the boat up from Alberni power and marine 30minutes ago was absolutely blown away with their service everything went extremely smooth from beginning to end with a wicked fast turn around.

Looks so shiny!

Got out for a quick test of the new equipment I just put in and everything worked well. Clarity of the carbon is sooo much better than my old hds10. Tested out the new transducers real quick, pretty happy with them but the real test will be going in the deeper 200+ft water. Here’s a quick shot comparing the active image to the p66, you can see how much clearer and more defined the targets are with the chirp and downscan. These were with basic settings, still need dialing in. Any tips on getting your ducer to track bottom at speed? Can’t get either to do so and haven’t been able to with previous ducers.

On my boat the trim tab on the transducer side has to be fully up to track bottom at speed. I assume your new one is mounted at the rear and not through the bottom

Yes transom mounted, about a foot from the tabs. I’ll try with them fully up thx

I don't have tabs. Garmin 95 SV UHD reads up to 26-27 mph, sometimes not. Transducer is at least the distance away (15" minimum) they recommend from propeller swing, template mounted at their height recommendation.

Are you porpoising at all?

Did an extended sea trial of the boat. Last sea trial ate the raw water impeller.
Took my eldest daughter and three friends to Teakerne, Refuge Cove and finally Prideaux Haven.
Conclusion, four eleven year old girls can make more noise than 240 diesel horses!
Love them all dearly!

Finished tying wires up after replacing all wiring, swithches, fuses, buses, dash panel and electronics, then replaced bilge drain fitting including some epoxy work, changed some fuel fittings and resized some lines, lined rod storage areas with thin rubber sheeting to reducerattling and for easy removal and cleaning. To do: rod holder placements and fix a couple of trailer rollers. Looking forward to fishing.
