Just received this, thought all you westshore folks may be interested that didn't know already:

West Shore Sportfishing Centre will be celebrating its Grand Opening on Saturday, May 3rd 2008 from 8:30 on! The event will be hosted by 103.1 Jack FM and 98.5 The Ocean FM, there will be product demos, in-store specials, advice from product reps, smoked salmon...come on down and see us! We will also be doing a Grand Opening Sale which will be advertised this week. Thanks to all who have given us so much support already, hope to see you there!

The store is looking great!

Nice and convienent for bait, gear and of course the usual new additions to the tackle box that is always required. I like that they open up at 630 am in the peak season during summer. See you there on Saterday.

They do advertise that on their site - I haven't paid too much attention when I'm in the lot, but I assume you could come in with a boat and park at the side of the store, and you can continue around on a loop onto Winster Road, so no backing up required. Yes, for sure though - to be setup with ideal boat parking and even an earlier open say on the weekends (5am) would be key for these places (especially for these guys since they are right on the main route to Sooke for all the victoria/saanich/up island traffic). Have a little coffee machine setup as well - all in one for the early fishers!

depending on the time you pull in that parking lot is chaotic ... it could be tight with a bigger boat...but on another hand it is nice to see a shop out in Langford...saves the drive in to town.

If someone was smart they would open one up somewhere on the outside of jacklin mall plenty o parking and right on the way! I've always thought that little corner store acrros from happy valley rd on sooke rd would be the best location.. It keeps coming up for sale every now and then.. Thought about purchasing it for just that reason.. Didn't step up to the plate tho.. Heard the guy that just bought it is having money troubles too now... Might have to open my dream job... LOL!

I pull my driftboat in there no problem - if its in the morning the entire parking lot is empty. Afternoon would be a different story, as would a 25' grady and F350.

Do you think it is easier at the other local store????????like kelly said you can always park on atkins there is always a spot there..

never said it was easier at the other stores.... I SAID these stores need adequate parking....not knocking any store for that matter just stating parking is minimal at these fishing stores.

The one thing that would be nice at Westshore fishing store would be later hours ...so you can get some gear after work or after fishing

Ever been to River Sportsman in Campbell River?

Great store with great parking no matter what you are towing.

Still dreaming of my Gas station/ Tim Hortons/ car-boat wash/ tackle shop idea.

From a business standpoint you can't be open early mornings and late night selling fishing gear. But if you could sell gas, Timmy's ect... you might be able to make it work.

I still dream of the shop I was in in Hayward, CA, just outside San Francisco: Firearms, Liquor, & Fishing Tackle. Talk about your one stop shopping.
