Westport WA Tuna Charters

Whole in the Water

A buddy and I are thinking of doing a tuna charter out of Westport this Sept. Never done this before.

Anyone have any recommendations for good charter outfits, cheap motels and other tips? Much appreciated.

I have been meaning to do this for a number of summers, just never seem to get there. This year for sure! (unless not)
My intention is to combine it with a family beach camping road trip down Oregon coast, then fish in last few days on the way home. So could also try it out in Newport or Lincoln City ... I think a little cheaper, as they don't have to go as far for the fish. Could be wrong though.

Anyways, don't have any leads on good companies, but I do like the fish counts page from the link above

If you lucked into the first week of August last summer, average was 10-19 tuna per person. Now that sounds like fun, bring it on!

Pretty sure I caught a post from one of the guys down south saying last year their season for Hali was 2 days!!

...just read holmes post....Oregon coast ROCKS. If you are doing a camping trip, check out Honeymon State Park.

Its a campground with its own lake (fair size) with cascading sand dunes plunging into the water around 270 degrees of its shores. The dunes extend miles and miles from the campsite...5 min walk from camp and you are in another world.

A good time is to buy some fireworks and go to town on the dunes...or a dune fire...Miss that place so much!

The buggies are cool but keep the throttle down. It doesnt take much to sink em!
