Weird sighting in Campbell River water

Hey guys hope some of you could shed some light for me. I was trolling in the Campbell River area the other morning and had some odd looking centipede looking thing floating past my boat. I could not get a picture but it was red and almost 2 feet long. I fished these waters for a very long time and have never seen this before. It had to have hundreds of legs on it wish I could have got a pick but I couldn’t get my boat turned around fast enough!!!

Like a sea worm? One of those deadly bastards with the retracting claws that somehow come out of its head? Those are the best all around bait for dock fishing for sure but that pinch hurts.

Rag worms have swarms. Mating thing? If you fish from the beaches (SRCT) everything seems to stop biting as the fish are gorged on the easy protein.
