Weather&Wind websites/apps discussion thread

I use FW quite a bit...I like how the now casts update every 20min but for places like ballenas and sisters it only updates every hr on the wind map. I usually cross reference with BWD to paint a picture of how the day might look. Env Canada I have given up on

The new format of BWD isn't much different. They just moved stuff around, and made it look fancier. If you pull up model and click what area you want it pretty much gives you same info. I found it confusing at first.

I really only use this for when I am fishing in Sooke area. Up island it is a little ****** with forecast from this site. I find Windyty to be more accurate.

And 3 days out is all I looked at anyway.

One thing I often do for Sooke/Vic is look at NOAA forecast too compare. I find a lot of times the forecast in JDF in US site especially wave conditions is fairly accurate. Here is like in BWD site.

For you guys that are using Predict Wind....question for you as I am accessing it from my computer and checking it out.

Why the split screens? Trying to figure out the reasoning....and can't seem to find much of a tutorial on their website.

Also for any 'Meteorologically' inclined individuals......the drop down in the top left of the map. What do the 4 abbreviations mean?

  • PWG
  • PWC
  • GFS
  • CMC

I like the site at first glance....just trying to figure out a bit more.
Good info in this article.
