I wonder if that would still be the same today though. There used to be all of three boats out on a given day in February. Now you see 50+ when some dummy posts his reds or whites on Facecrap Fishing For Idiots pages.

it would be spread out, now everyone’s shifting effort to the few nice days in March and February.

Statistics can be misleading. The 10-yr average is pretty pathetic, it's not a historical index number that encapsulates the good ol days. Keep in mind a slight % increase over lousy is still pretty friggin lousy.

Are we heading into an El Nino effect next year?

I brought this exact same question to DFO !!! How come you guys dont mention ANYTHING about how the USA have ramped up there hatchery program way way up I dont recall the number but when it was annouced "these" whales were in trouble I think it was like 300 %.
Correct me if im wrong... DFO seems to not care at all and where was all the funding for hatchery progarms TRUDUMB was giving hatcheries. All of it was smoke and mirrors !!! If this is the forecast thank you usa for helping out and using common sense and DOING. Guys fish hard this year as our days are numbered with this government

Wolf that is a cool story and all, but I don't think it holds any truth. For the most part hatchery supplementation on the WA side is holding steady or maybe diminishing in some spots as they try to "optimize" hatchery operations. I'm talking chinook. Steelhead hatchery plants are down substantially. Maybe coho is up, but I doubt that moves anybody's needle. Don't take my word for it though, take some vacation in July and August and come on down here and fish some. I live in WA. . .there's a reason I go north as often as I can!
