wanted - shimano moocher plus 1000gt

Hi all,

Looking for one of these older smaller Shimano moochers (1000 size). Not sure when they stopped making these but I find them fun for sockeye/coho.

If anyone has one laying around in half decent condition please shoot me a message. I'm in Nanaimo but can pick up at various points on the Island.

Well I checked and I was wrong. Looks like the Shimano 1000 GT Plus does have a one way drag as can be seen below.

In this photo it looks slightly smaller in diameter too.


If you want smaller diameter you could also look at the Diawa M-One , I think they may be slightly smaller in diameter.

I have one.
Yes they do have a one way drag and I have put carbon fibre drag washers in mine. I also have filed down the reel seat so it fits my 8-weight fly rod. It still fits a mooching rod just fine.
Haven’t used it for a few years. I’ll take a photo of it later today

Now that I have taken pictures of it I’m not convinced I want to sell it :-/

I’m taking my light/fragile fly reel to Prince Rupert this Friday for 10 days. If it holds up I would be ok to sell this moocher 1000…hmm but then I’d have a light 8’ mooching rod with no reel.
