They almost tick all the boxes. Seems like everyone is going graphite now days.I have one of the LJ super tough mooching rods and I love it. Full stainless eyes and a longer butt. Slow action though.
Canadian Tire on Cambie carries a large selection of his gear including the rods now. I heard this CT is a franchised operation, so not all will carry his product.
These are a combo of both. More e-glass than graphite to me.They almost tick all the boxes. Seems like everyone is going graphite now days.
I'm going to have my rep grab me one to hold and feel. If that rod has the backbone and it's mostly eglass then I would grab a half dozen. The price is right that's for sure. These are a combo of both. More e-glass than graphite to me.
I like it. At that price who cares if it gets smashed up.The rod is a bit fatter than a technium but it’s much more fun to fish. Technium on the left. LJ super tough on the right.
Super tough is around 12” to the reel seat.Nice comparison picture and explanation. Shows you can have slow action and a good backbone. I miss glass rods for mooching and salmon fishing in general but these modern composites could be a good compromise.
After looking closer at my LJ I have the regular model and it is an up locking seat. Rear grip is just past 9 inches but the seat is longer than most to accommodate the longer reel foot on the legacy reel. With it being up locking you gain an inch or 2 of length on the back end. Didn’t know about the Super Tough but now I have to get one (if I can find one) just for the full chrome guides.
Cabelas shows stock online $144I'm going to grab 4 and try them out for a year. If they are even available
What you describe is available in a 10'6" R3EF available at TrotacI'm the market for 4 rods. Been using our custom built HMX rods for so long and guys keep ******* them up so I'm done with custom rods. Rod supplies are getting really expensive now and looking for rods with long carbon butt sections, 10'6, stainless eyelets without inserts, aluminum reel seats.. that sorta thing. Do they exist without spending a grand each?
Mucho thanks in advance
I have dropped in a small piece of wood doweling in my rod holders in the past to raise up the rod 1-2”. Simple fix to get it to desired height. The butts on the MHXs are not as long as I thought, however can't be any shorter than this. Even longer would be ideal.

Fair enough. The way I setup the boats is why. It's not because of how they sit in a rod tube.I have dropped in a small piece of wood doweling in my rod holders in the past to raise up the rod 1-2”. Simple fix to get it to desired height.
I bought 4 last year and just bought another 8 in case they change them can’t not match after all! What you describe is available in a 10'6" R3EF available at Trotac
Composite butt, cork upper aluminum foot and stainless eyes, 150 bucks.
I grabbed 3 and used them last season, comparable with a 1285 I used to run
