Voting 2025

Not getting into the politics of the matter, more of a Public Service announcement.

There are as usual several ways to tender your vote. The usual early voting at the polling stations, mail in voting, and voting on election day at your local polling station.

Just discovered today there exists another option. I will be out of the country when the early elections start, and through election day. Not a fan of mail in voting, so called our local Elections Canada office to see what could be done. Come on down, you can vote here TODAY! What??

Need to know the name of the Candidate you wish to vote for, and provide ID. That's it. Doubled security sealed paper ballot.

So, I've now put that behind me. A good route to follow for those that find themselves in a similar situation to mine and want to vote.

Thought I'd share for any who might find themselves in similar circumstances.

Cheers

If we could only ask every party in Canada to come up with a new candidate. Then give us a little bit of time to make a decision because they’re all full of……

But it’s no different than the US. Who did they have to vote for?

I’m not asking for your opinion or a decision or anything else but really come on

Now that I see the slate for my federal riding, I find I may be voting C. Their candidate has served numerous terms on city council and is a steady, sensible lady.

Libs haven't announced a candidate yet, either they've written off the riding or they're about to announce someone high profile.

NDP isn't really a fit for me at the macro political level, yet I supported them three times in a row federally, our outgoing MP was and is a person of integrity who worked hard in committee and became well respected by peers in other parties.

Yes, we should be mindful of the national level view, but our local MP is our direct representative and the only place where our vote actually counts.

Only one party will not decrease access to chinook and other fisheries for the public sector. I'll let you figure out which one that is ;)

Being a good MP takes hard work, especially at the committee level for Justice or Finance. Despite the deep differences between the parties, all parties worked hard behind the scenes and got some good things done.

Committees are where the work is actually done. MPs and MLAs may serve on the same committee for many years, and get to know their colleagues - oftern from different parties - very well. They sit around the same table and discuss/negotiate like adults, propose/make amendments, consider financial and social implications.

The little glimpses we see on TV of Question Period are not representative of an elected official's day. With the cameras running, everyone on the floor goes from bored to highly agitated in a few seconds. Then it's back to boring again after QP is over. Theatre, staged for us the viewers at home.

As per the OP's posts at the beginning of the thread...see below.

Let's leave that part out of it. As in that is an individual choice.
I'd like this thread to stand, and not get circumvented by dragging actual partisan politics into it.

Thanks,
Matt
