I have a Volvo Penta and first thing in the morning when I start it, it runs and starts perfect. But after it warms up it idles way to high in neutral. It idles around 1800 rpm. Cable moves freely. Any ideas?
Is it a carburetor or fuel injection type.
Try jiggling around with the linkages on the carb especially the idle stop screw. It may have gotten jammed, and now be in the wrong place. you may have to open the throttle wide to unjam it.
Fraser, not sure if its a carb or cable issue, but i have a seized VP 3.0L GS motor that will be pulled. The carb is fine, if you are interested in a spare let me know. Also, don't shift the motor into gear when its running that fast. I think they say idling over 1000 rpm risks leg damage.
