Vintage lures - time capsule

I recently acquired my late Granddad’s fishing lures. He lived in Powell River in the late 70’s/ early 80’s as an engineer for BC Ferries, and passed away in ‘89 after moving to Victoria. Everything here hasn’t been touched since then. Thought it might be cool to see how things haven’t changed that much, even though the colours are brighter and flashier these days. Looks like a homemade jig made out of a spoon handle there, along with some Gibbs candlefish, some pretty fishy looking hootchies and bucktails that look older than me. I might run a few and see if they still work. The strip teaser with the big deflector on the head looks intriguing…

That's a nice collection. I hope you have fun fishing it.
Those salmon tags were a pain in the butt, I'm glad we don't have to deal with them anymore.

Thought I'd piggy back on this post and see if anyone knows anything about my newly gotten booty. Bunch of Northwest Diamond, McMahon and other spoons. Also a big gnarly jig looking thing with moveable fins and tail piece. Looks like lead encased in plastic? Anyone seen this before?
