Left cattle at about 730am this morning headed out somewhere out in the distance off the waterfront. Anchored by 8 and had our first double header in about 20minutes,then another double header 40min or so later.all the halibut where caught on xl herring, one rod had a herring skirt with a l.e.d. stuffed in the head got no action, they preferred plain old herring. Also caught 1 very big dogfish which I thought was a halibut because it fought all the way up. Weather was a little snotty on the way out but calmed down on the way back in. Halibut were almost all the same size the largest one being 43lbs. Saw a couple other boats anchored up on the way in but not very many for a weekend. All in all a very fine day
Seal break off ?
Fished the hell out of the front of victoria today...with only a couple of springs to show for it. If it wasn't for the company and getting to be guest crew on someone else's boat it might have gotten old fast.
Hope that next time around is a little hotter!

Really? You are complaining about catching only 'a couple of springs' in March? First world problems...
Wow. If that guy found a herring ball thick enough to gorge like that, then that is a good sign!!Was slower today for sure. Two fish today off Esquimalt in 4 hours, one had 20 herring in its belly it was discovered during autopsy.
