Hello fellow fisherman we are in the process of getting this all organized but we need confirmation from people if your going to come to this event, what we need to know,is if you ARE going to attend!!!

1. If you will make it to the meet and greet on
Friday night let us know yes or no.

2. If you are going to enter the derby yes or no.

We are working on getting the Esquimalt legion for both events(meet&greet and wind up) and the weigh in at Esquimalt anglers the legion can host us for food /snack/and bevies and getting a spot for putting anybodys boat for parking with security. So we can have fun in the legion I personally think this will work out great. A forum member has taken it apon himself to help organize this for us!!!!!!!
thank you!!!!!!

You can e-mail me or M.E. (Kevin) with you input we just need to get some numbers so please if your going to come let us know so we can get this done properly thanks in advance

I'll be there for the meet and greet on Friday, for sure. And if, as already mentioned in the earlier thread, I can hook up a ride with someone, I'll be there for the fishing too.

Seafood, it eat, then catch more.

OK........Give me the dates for this thing. I was understanding that the derb was going to be in Feb (?).

Some like it rough...
Others just puke!.

Mr. Dean

March 24 for the meet and greet derby on the 25 th of march Weigh in 2:00 bevies and pub food 3:00.

Just a quick note to update what wolf has posted we need to know who will be attending the derby asap for us to make all the final arrangements. Thanks to those who have already confirmed there attendance. We almost have everything finalized but need some rough numbers so please email me or wolf my email is asportfishingbcmoderator@hotmail.com or wolf's is bluewolf@telus.net

We can arrange cut rate accomadations for out of town guests at a decent hotel close to where everything will be taking place.

The formal poster and sign up form will be up on the site Monday or Tuesday with all the fine details.

The date has not changed it will be held on Saturday March 25th and the entry fee will be $10.00 per person with the money going to the winners and there will be some additional prizes to be awarded.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers Kevin

Just to let EVERYONE know this LITTLE derby is for fun only. Its for people on this FORUM to meet and just have a good old time and B.S.afterwards thats all!!!!!!!!! it is in no way shape or form to be misjudged as being impeeded upon the other derby here in Victoria
(outfitters).
Again this is just for some buddys to get together and have fun thanks in advance Wolf

This could be much better than the fitters cash grab! There are some top notch fisherman attending this bash. Guys are flocking from fish B.c to be part of this derby and to meet wolf and Dennis Reid. I can't wait to see everyone.

Lol, have you ever considered doing standup comedy?

You shouldn't diss outfitters like that. They are very friendly and helpful people. Their derby is not a cash grab. Obviously, as a business putting on an event, they are going to make some money, but I think they do it to promote fishing rather than to make a quick buck.
I don't want to start a confrontation, but alot of people read this site and I'm sure some are from outfitters or know people from it.

Thanks Captain Dudds

Not bashing fitters Dudds, just saying the prize money cash grab is great. Lots of guys out for that 20 grand 200 pounder or the 5 g first place.
Fitters is great!Good prizes and good fun.

Very well said wolf thats why we called The SportFishingBC First Annual Just For The Fun Of It Halibut Derby. This is a fun derby between members and friends of members of this site only. It is not in any way shape or form designed to take away from or mirror in any way the Annual Just For The Halibut Derby!!!!!! This is for fun and a chance to meet some of the guys from the forum and mabye win a prize.

Thanks Tipsup you are right the Annual Just For The Halibut Derby in April donates alot of money to a very good cause. Thanks for your great post.

Cheers ME
