Underwater With Google Earth.....?

Apparently Google Earth versions of 5.0 or higher have a feature that let's you go underwater and look around.

I downloaded version 5 (free) but I can't get it to do it....

Buddy of mine says he looked at underwater bottom contour of mid-island ECVI on it.....you submerge beneath the surface and down you go to have a look around......

Anybody doing this?........if so...how are you doing it?

I just upgraded to version 7.0 on my iPad and if it has the feature you speak of, I can't figure it out.

There are a couple of videos on YouTube on how to do it.

On these videos they say there is an "ocean" icon in the lower right corner......on mine there is a little square with
a world map.

Apparently you zoom down to ocean surface...which then flattens out to a surface "across the water" view.

You press "control", after having cued the "ocean" icon, and then use the zoom button to continue beaneath the waves. Or at least that's how I think it goes.....but it doesn't work for me so far.

Maybe I should download an even newer version because version 5 looks exactly like my old version.

In the drop-down list in the LEFT bottom corner of the screen (Layers etc.), there is an ocean icon....which is in the + position on mine (which means "on")
And one of the layers is "explore ocean", which is in the + mark.
But.......so far I'm a landlubber.....

It's supposed to be really simple to go underwater on G/Earth.....

I use it often to find shoals to mark on my Gps, Ive just got the 5.0 version and it works good enough for me.
You have to continue double clicking on the ocean until its horizontal, then you can zoom in and move around from there

I've been playing with version 7.0 on my iPad and it definitely seems that the further north you go, the less detail you have. For example, when I go south to California, I can see a lot of detail fairly close to shore. When I go north to Nootka, there is very little detail inside of the highway. South, I can explore Swiftsure, but anything shallower doesn't offer much detail.

Google Earth & Sketchup are a couple of my favorite pieces of software and they're both free.

My wife and I have been looking at houses for nearly a year now and it's way cool on GE to enter the postal code of the house you are looking at, and GE will take you directly to it from an aerial perspective then you simply zoom-in on the street in front of the place and it converts to a 360-degree ground shot mode where you can literally do a 'drive-by' without leaving your house.

If you haven't done this you simply must try it. It's unreal. A while back I took a drive by my old house and high-school in Ottawa that I haven't seen since 72'.
