TV Providers Vancouver Island

Great subject. Yes, my bill has recently gone up. Rogers kept sending me short term offers that would then become higher than I am paying so I ignored them. Now they just started charging me more.
It has been no my to do list to change TV, internet and phone.
Hopefully this thread provides some options.
I have basically shunned the large telecoms.

Oxio for home internet (from Shaw/Rogers) and Freedom Mobile (Quebecor) for mobile phone service (from Roger’s Wireless)

In both cases the cost was at least cut in half, with freedom mobile being 55% less.

I’d had enough

I was recently coerced into going with the wifi modems verses hard wired digital boxes to each TV that I had with Shaw/Rogers. Now voices don’t match lips for all shows/movies/news casts, hockey seems blurred and they charged me more for faster internet because they stopped offering my old internet speed package, all in it now costs me about $60 more per month for poorer service and I had to lock in for 2 years. I’m just getting tired about the “war on the consumer” these days about everything, big Corp just wants their million dollar salaries at our expense total BS

Thanks for posting. Qualicum is pretty much like our area mid island. Limited options. All our neighbors got sucked in to the Telus security TV packages. Now they are paying for it. Between Rogers and Telus you are stuck. Way too expensive.

I have basic internet and phone with Rogers business. No TV bundles etc.

I got rid of the tv bundles years back. I find it better to just buy streaming channels directly on smart TV. Works out cheaper. We have stack TV through Amazon prime of it essential to see any live channels....

Have paramount, discovery, apple TV, prime, crave etc. Seems to have more to see than regular cable and less watching commercials. For sports have a Sportnet app and get pretty much every NHL game home and away.

What's nice about buying channel streaming app ayou can do free trials and shut them off anytime.

My OTA antenna voice/lip mismatching happens on one channel out of seven, and only occasionally. The fix that works for me is to scroll to the next highest channel, and then come back down to where you want to be. It then matches up as it should. No idea why, but it works for my set up.

A lot of movies on Netflix are European or Asian with North American titles, however the English is dubbed.
I find them frustrating to watch.

I went all wireless with Telus a couple of months ago. Cleaned up all the mess of coax wires running all over the outside of my house. I probably shouldn't say anything, but no issues to report other than the usual, it costs too damn much.

No first hand knowledge, but know of people that have gone with I believe fire stick and either a StarLink or internet service only with Telus or Shaw and they seem to be all happy. I going to look in to this as been thinking of a Starlink for the 5th Wheel. If anyone else has info on this I would like to hear there option.
