Tuf-line XP braid failure

Yesterday had this braid fail on me. It was like the outer sheath became disconnected and balled up, you could still move it around but wasn't connected to the core. It was basically new and hadn't played anything of size. On line reviews seem decent. Anyone else had this happen or have any idea why?

The tuf line has never been one of my favorites. I don't know know why many local retailers have it on the shelves and not much else. I'd get power pro if you can return and Exchange it. Power pro is a much better line and only slightly more cost than tough line IMO.

Love the stuff, I only use it and nothing else for 20 yrs, started when it was just tuff line, never had a fail. Broken rod eyes have cut it as have accidental mishaps but that would be any braid. Don't use the 100 lb only 50 lb. It is the smallest diameter braid per strength, and price, great when fishing deep. 400ft+ Definitely send back to store, I'm sure they will replace but I have never needed to test its warranty.

Unfortunately I bought it from cowichan fly and tackle when they were going out of business a couple years ago......had it as stock until I needed it. Sounds like it's good stuff, I'll just chalk it up to a nick from the shark I was bringing up or some other strange phenomena.....

I've used 80 lb. Tuf-line on my hali rods for years without any trouble.I also bought it from Gordy at Cowichan Fly and Tackle before it closed up.Maybe check your guides with a Q-Tip to see if one of your ceramic inserts is cracked.Just a
thought.

Those strange phenomena happen, just last weekend lost 67 ft of braided downrigger cable, ball, and release. Trolling great all quiet when a clunk and rod screaming. Yippee fish on= no 12 lbs of lead racing to bottom after a sharp cut of braid. At least the clip let the flasher and bait go.

Maybe an email to tuff line and the pick may get a response and replacement. Cant hurt trying.
