Despite Bedayan's claims that violent crime has diminished in Canada due to the liberal bans, nothing could be further from the truth.

This was confirmed by Statistics Canada, who revealed that the rate of firearm-related violent crime has surged 29 percent while the number of victims has grown by nearly 19 percent.

This has been driven by the Liberals’ radical bills C-75 and C-5, which ended mandatory jail time for certain violent crimes and allowed violent, repeat offenders to be released on bail. The Liberals’ catch-and-release policies are made worse after they lost control of our border. Toronto Police have reported that 85% of the handguns they seized had come from the US.

As a direct result of this, violent crime has skyrocketed by 50 percent, and total incidents of violent gun crime use has surged 116 percent. Meanwhile, in 2022, 256 people charged with homicide were out on release from the Liberals’ catch-and-release policies.

You'd think with what's been going on the last few weeks the government would be dumping these ineffective money pit programs.

I see the SKS has still managed to dodge the shotgun pattern.

GUN GRAB! Trudeau enacts last-minute ban on 200 more firearms

Two days before the Liberals vote for a new leader, the Trudeau government added nearly 200 firearm models to its mandatory buyback program, first introduced in 2020 to confiscate guns from law-abiding citizens.

The decision to prohibit 179 additional makes and models of so-called “assault-style” firearms was announced by Associate Public Safety Minister Rachel Bendayan. The new restrictions take effect immediately.

“We have all the tools necessary to ensure that new models of assault-style weapons will be captured and denied legal entry into the Canadian market,” Bendayan told reporters Friday.

“Let’s be clear, these are weapons of war, firearms designed specifically to kill as many people as possible in the least amount of time possible.”

These newly banned firearms will be added to the 2020 order-in-council, which initially prohibited over 1,500 guns. Since then, the Liberals have expanded the scope of the order, now including a ban on over 2,500 firearms.

The government also extended amnesty for current owners until Mar. 1, 2026. While a detailed list of the newly added items isn’t yet public, it does mean that any owners of these firearms will no longer be able to use, sell or lend them.

The Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association condemned the move as a “massive attack on lawful citizens and small businesses.”

“Today, they announced the prohibition of an additional 179 models of firearms, primarily targeting semi-automatic hunting and sporting rifles. While “Team Canada” is constantly preaching “Canada First” and “support Canadian” our own government is actively destroying Canadian businesses with prohibitions that will do nothing to enhance public safety,” wrote the association’s managing director Jenn McDonald in a statement Friday.

The Liberals earmarked another $597.9 million over three years in taxpayer funds to confiscate guns from law-abiding firearms owners as part of their Fall Economic Statement.

Before the additional funding was announced, the buyback program was already projected to cost taxpayers over $100 million by 2025 despite the government not collecting a single gun since the plan’s announcement.

“I myself have been frustrated that we couldn’t move faster on a program,” Bendayan said. “The reality is we want to do it right. There are enormous complexities involved in getting a system set up to be able to compensate Canadians, but also protect their personal information.”

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre vowed to scrap the Liberals’ firearm buyback program, arguing that taxpayer funds would be better spent on securing the border against firearms trafficking. The Toronto Police have said that guns illegally imported into Canada account for 85 per cent of the crimes committed.

“These newly banned models are among some of the most popular firearms for hunting and sport shooting, and in many cases, they are the only viable option for disabled hunters,” said McDonald. “The Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association has made it abundantly clear to policymakers just how devastating these measures are, yet our concerns continue to be ignored.”

Canada’s current firearm laws already have limits placed on magazine capacity, including five rounds for almost all semi-automatic rifles and 10 rounds for pistols.

Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights’s vice president of public relations Tracey Wilson called the Trudeau government “cowards” for trying to stoke such a contentious issue on its “last business day.”

“On the last business day of this government, before leadership, in the 11th hour, with geopolitical crises and tariff wars, economic uncertainty, violent crime wave, border and national security issues, prorogation … what do they plan? Another attack on hunters and licensed sport shooters,” wrote Wilson ahead of the Liberals’ announcement.

The sports shooters’ organization added that it’s “imperative” that the Liberals or “any subsequent government reverse” these prohibitions immediately to “protect Canadian jobs, businesses, and a heritage that cannot simply be erased.”

“We are deeply disappointed in the complete lack of empathy, care, and common sense this government has shown to small businesses that contribute to the economy and workforce. These prohibitions are nothing more than political pandering to anti-gun activists, and they will do absolutely nothing to improve public safety,” it said.

All it takes is a shooting like this last one to throw the general public behind further gun restrictions.....

:Toronto police are searching for at least three suspects who opened fire “indiscriminately” on patrons at a Scarborough pub late Friday night, injuring 12 people.

Police say just before 10:40 p.m., three masked men walked into the Piper Arms Pub near Scarborough Town Centre, one was armed with an assault rifle and two others had handguns, and they began shooting.

“They walked into the bar, they produced their guns, and they opened fire indiscriminently on the people sitting inside the bar,” said Supt. Paul MacIntyre,:

All it takes is a shooting like this last one to throw the general public behind further gun restrictions.....

True. Definitely when the MSM sensationalizes it.
While ignoring the identities of the shooters, and the fact they employed illegal (likely smuggled) guns.
In other words, criminals using criminal weapons of choice.

As many here will likely be aware, the woman in question has been largely responsible for aiding and abetting the liberal gun control platform.
In fact, the original Bill C 21 was almost a word for word copy of recommendations she forwarded to the liberals prior to the drafting of that bill.

Gun control activist and Polytechnique massacre survivor Nathalie Provost to join Mark Carney’s team: report

Posted March 21, 2025 9:32 am.

Nathalie Provost, spokesperson for the group PolySeSouvient and survivor of the École Polytechnique massacre, is about to make the leap into federal politics with Marc Carney’s Liberal team.

Known for her gun control activism, Provost is expected to announce Friday that she will represent the Liberal Party of Canada, according to Le Devoir.

She would run in the new riding of Châteauguay–Les Jardins-de-Napierville, in Monteregie on the South Shore.

In recent years, the Quebec engineer had criticized the party for failing to keep its promises to keep gun control in Canada, even though the Trudeau government has banned thousands of types of firearms.

Carney is expected to call a general election in Canada this Sunday.

Attached is a photo of a letter Currie Dixon sent to Mark Carney prior to the election being called.

Coles notes and quotes relevant to everyone:

"Under your predecessor JT, federal firearms policy has been ideologically-driven, performative, and quite frankly, completely ineffective."

"A Yukon party government intends to pursue territorial legislation to help safeguard the rights of Yukoners."

"Our vision is that a Yukon Firearms Act will create a regulatory barrier to prevent the enforcement of federal confiscation programs."

"We will also consider legislation to prohibit any RCMP officers under contract with the Yukon Gov. from participating in any Federal-driven confiscation schemes" (leaves potential for provincial/territorial one In my opinion)

"We would rather the federal government took evidence-based actions to address organized crime and gun violence, rather than forcing provincial and territorial governments to protect our citizens again (from) federal overreach and attacks on innocent Canadians' property rights."

"I urge you to abandon the Trudeau Liberals' draconian and ineffective approach, and take serious action to combat the trade in illegal arms and actual gun violence."

Toronto police urge Carney, Poilievre to clarify positions on public safety issues

The Toronto Police Association (TPA) has called on the two main party leaders to respond to four key public safety concerns before Friday, April 18.

TPA in a formal letter that was also posted on their various social media accounts told Liberal leader Mark Carney and Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre the more than 8,500 police and civilian members are “watching this election closely” to see how each party will deal with these pressing issues.

The TPA in its letter slammed the Trudeau-Carney Liberals for having to “watch the deterioration” of Toronto communities “over the last several years” — “in part due to a lack of proper funding, adequate support and strong leadership in the areas of policing and public safety.”

“As a result, we are watching this election closely with a particular interest in your party's platform when it comes to these issues,” wrote the TPA.

The first question is about bail reform.

“It is a daily occurrence for our members to arrest someone who is on bail. In fact, one of the most common charges laid against a person arrested for gun related crimes is Failed to Comply,” wrote TPA under a post labelled “Question One.”

“We support the notion of rehabilitation and the fundamental right to presumed innocence. However, stricter measures must be applied to the small number of repeat violent offenders.”

“What is your party's plan to stop the revolving door of bail and implement a system that better protects the public and our members?"

The second key area of concern related to gun bans and the Liberals’ categorically unsuccessful buy-back programs — and the government’s tendency to conflate criminals with law-abiding firearms owners.

“Gun violence continues to be a threat to the safety of our communities and our members. In 2024, there was a 34% increase in shootings and a 52% increase in gun related homicides,” wrote TPA.

“There's no evidence that gun bans are effective in reducing this violence, particularly when 85% of guns seized by our members can be traced to the United States.”

“Will you end the handgun ban and gun buyback program, and redirect the resources to all police agencies, not just the RCMP and CBSA, to address the influx of illegally smuggled firearms, rather than focusing on legal gun owners?

The third issue focuses on high-risk offenders and amending the Corrections and Conditional Release Act (CCRA).

“For decades, we have supported the families of murdered police officers Todd Bayless and Michael Sweet, as well as the families of murdered schoolgirls Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffey as they fight year after year to keep the offenders in custody,” wrote TPA.

“The existing sentencing and parole system has made this a lifelong struggle.”

“Will you amend the CCRA to include a ‘high-risk’ category for offenders who present the greatest risk to the public (including offenders who have killed police)?”

The TP included in the list of CCRA amendments that it would “ensure high- risk offenders have greater barriers to any form of release” and “strengthen victims' rights.”

The fourth and final key question for the federal party leaders pertains to adequate staffing.

“Staffing at the Toronto Police Service is at a critical level. While the population of Toronto has grown exponentially in the last decade, the number of police officers has gone down,” wrote TPA.

“Toronto has one police officer for every 171 residents, less than the national average, despite being the largest city in the country.”

“Our communication center is at a crisis point too. Staff shortages mean the public is waiting up to 12 minutes to hold off, 12 minutes on hold when they call 911.”

“What is your plan to ensure the City of Toronto and the province of Ontario are adequately supported to provide our communities with appropriate police funding and resources, including assisting with national special events?”
