Troubleshooting dead Scotty line puller

i keep a small snatch block on board in case of. the snatch block opens to put the rope through. secured to my anchor buoy and drive away with rope cleated towards deep water. a couple of overhand knots 1' apart stops the traps from sliding back through. before pullers where invented we did this with a drift sock and scotchman.

Sounds like when my trim motor went. When my ace/brutus motor went it didn’t make any noise. Cost me $300+ but Scotty repairs stuff like that for free, they are awesome.

To avoid pulling pots by hand I keep one of these anchor puller rings on the boat. You can buy just the ring but this shows the whole setup https://amzn.to/3O3Gapx #ad
I told a friend about my mishap the other day and he recommended this to me as well
