Trolling lower Fraser

Between morning and evening goose hunts we would try to hot shot in the river like in Alaska and WA. Was ok up river when scale bar was open. Did better spin casting for Coho on the tails of islands.

I have trolled on the Columbia in a few spots upper river and bouy 10. Leave your downriggers at home divers are what most use on the lower Columbia. Also the flasher we use in the salt are not what they use they use the more triangle ones that are kind of like a big spinner. The Columbia is much larger then the Fraser, water clarity is better and I would say it's a far better salmon producer then the Fraser. At bouy 10 there can be as many as 200-400 boats on the water and with an outgoing tide the current can really rip. I bet u would be able to catch some on the Fraser once you figure out a good spot and a technique that works for ya.

Im going to spend some time in the next while trying this technique out. A little bit further up river from the mission launch where the water starts getting a little skinnier.

I have some kwickfish on order (seemed really hard finding them locally) and am chomping at the bit to play around a bit with these techniques.

Brads super baits are very common on the Columbia. They can fish with bait I don't know if it's legal to fish with bait on the Fraser maybe from the mission bridge down but I'm unsure

Fishing with bait opens on October 8 in the tidal waters of Fraser and then after October 11 in the non tidal portion. There's also no coho retention before the above dates.

Don't quote me on this but I believe the lower fraser opens on the 15th for retention of hatch coho and the bait ban is lifted.

Yes bait ban is lifted but can u use fin Fish like anchovy or herring or just roe?
