On way back to California. Had a good time, even though the catching lacked a lot. Wife liked seeing the Dall's porpoise and Minke whale at Telegraph Cove. Nice weather the whole time. A little windy the first day, but flat after that. No salmon landed. couple hits. Mostly pinks on the surface. Went to Georges Banks and landed one halibut. Released to get bigger. Was about 2 kilo's. Big Quillback I took for dinner was bigger. Went to Salmon Point RV Park in Campbell River. Very nice facility. Trolling the first day, hooked 3 ling cod, one may have been barely legal, all released and one dogfish. 2 lings on Army Truck hoochie, other fish on Tomic plug. The Hump. Took out another camper and his 5 year old son. Son wanted to fish his light spinning rod. so we put a Coyote blue and white spoon on and he promptly hooked 2 fish, most likely pinks on the surface. Both LDR's. I landed 1 pink on a Purple Haze Hotspot with a Purple Haze Hoochie. Wind came up so we went in early to prevent scaring the little guy. Worst weather of the trip wind wise. Layed down later. Then went to China Creek, boat still dirty as heck here in Oregon. Going to drop in to a fresh water lake in Calif tomorrow and clean it up. China Creek, they were catching a few springs after a 20 mile run towards Bamfield. I went with the closer group. Saw about 3 fish caught for 50 boats. The seiners took 400k soxs out early in the week. Do not want to even estimate what I paid a pound / kilo per fish for the 2 weeks. but had a good time, met some nice people, saw some great sights. Enjoyed Canada a lot. I will be back in a year or two.

Thanks for the report.
Sounds like you did a lot of travelling in your time here.
I might suggest that next time you are coming up try concentrating on one area and start asking for fishing reports for that area a couple of weeks early.
You might not see as much of the country but your boat will be in the water more.
This also gives you a chance to find some of the locals spots in each area where they fish.
Glad to see you had a great trip.

I did ask for reports early. But part was sightseeing as well as fishing. Boat was in the water most of the time. Got a slip at TC and Salmon Point. Would have gone to the West Side, but the winds have been blowing from what I learned.

Nice report. You definitely have an adventurous spirit. I think Kisiana was on the right track though for catching fish you need to concentrate on one area. Learn that area and how to fish it well, then move on to learning another area. Most times your first trip to any area is tough fishing. It takes a few trips to really learn the best spots and gear to use.

I hope you have better luck on your next trip. It's not all about bring home fish anyways. Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself.
