Trigger Finger is real

I have a friend whose both hands curl in like claws. He has Viking Syndrome something that appears often in people of Scottish ancestry. They have tried surgery to no avail.

Are you aware of someone who has used CBD for trigger finger? I know it works for many other ailments.
No not personally. I can confirm it works well with arthritis. Anecdotally of course. My GP gave me a prescription for NSAIDs instead for when I get a flare. That was quite a while ago and was never filled. I haven’t had a flare in years 😉

I've got arthritis is my wrist and back at 41. Apparently I have chronic inflammation which might be due to sleep apnea. Or just being a fat f#$%. Either way, I'm not loving the giant IBUPROFEN horse pills they've prescribed me. It was supposed to be temporary but now they can't figure out what else to do. Seeing a specialist but she just keeps pushing pills. I have no idea where to start with CBD but I'm interested. It's just hard to trust the dudes I know selling them considering the shady pasts I know they all had. There's still a snake oil side of it that I don't trust. Where does one start?

Over the counter medications like this, that so many people think are harmless have lead to more issues (liver, kidney, stomach bleeds) and death than anyone would care to acknowledge yet it's still prescribed like it's candy.
This is true, however some of the guys I know do it for macho reasons, two are old German master journeymen. No pills for me, where's my stein?

BC Cannabis or any legitimate retail storefront can give you some advice. I don’t mess around with gray or black market products. You can even get prescription level products if you get the medical diagnosis from certain licensed doctors.

Arthritis in my hands (age 60, working in the trades) is noticeably worse when I go to the coast, I assume due to the humidity. Maybe you better move to the Okanagan mate.

I have this. I’m only 38 and have had 2 surgeries. Waiting on the 3rd. I’ve only ever worked with my hands. 1st surgery worked fine. They missed a piece on the 2nd and that’s what has grown back. It’s a pain as I work with heavy pipe everyday.

My snowbird friends in Palm Springs and Arizona swear by it. Golf everyday, tennis, minimal effects until they get back in coastal

I've endured Dupentren - Celtic disease, Viking disease, a genetic disease that only affects people with British Isle or Nordic ancestry for at least a dozen years. For years, would hold a hot cup of coffee for10 to 20 minutes each morning till the fingers in my right hand unclawed. While waiting a year and a half for an appointment with a surgeon, a boating friend sent me a copy of an article he read in his doctor's office. It told of a certain vitamin B that was having success with DC. Being on Meds after cardiac arrest, I asked my Pharmacist if this B would have a negative effect - " No it just a vitamin but why take one - take B Complex". By the time I saw the Surgeon, the hand had greatly improved. He called BS on the effectiveness of B complex. 9 years later, I haven't had surgery and my hands are 98% normal. The odd time now, I will lose grip on something and don't have the strength my hands once had, but then I'm now 74. If you have DC before surgery, give B Complex a try. The worst side effect is bright yellow urine.
I am a believer. Ted

yes to the glow in the dark urine, quite the surprise at first.

Well, the first shot in my trigger finger spot has not completely cured it after two weeks, so when I go in for my follow up with the hand surgeon, they will try the second shot. Apparently it’s two shots and then the option of surgery if it still doesn’t do anything. It is better, but it still sticks, only it doesn’t jam as hard as it did before.

That's interesting that you found relief from DC by taking Vitamin B complex.

I've read a lot on Dupuytren's Contracture as I showed the first signs of it when I turned 40, it slowly progressed until I had trouble putting a glove on my right hand by the time I turned 60, as an avid motorcyclist I needed it fixed.
After much research I found a surgeon in Germany who was available at short notice to do Needle Aponeurotomy on my hand, it's a procedure where they use a sharp needle to cut the cords which form in the palm of the hand and then straighten the finger(s), all done under a local anesthetic and in about 15 minutes. I was able to use my hand the same day and had virtually no discomfort at all.

They gave me a glove with finger splints to wear at night for 6 months to help keep the fingers straight, that was 3.5 years ago and the cords have started to form again, not bad but I can feel them starting, so maybe I'll try the Vitamin B program and see if anything changes.

I use a topical roll on called "delush" The Magic Stick and it works wonders. 300mg CBD/54 gm. It's a bit like Deep Blue but better. You can order it online....

Kiwi Canuck - good luck with the B Complex - give it a couple of week or maybe a month for results to show. Forget how long it took for me. Where in NZ are you from? Hitch hiked both Islands in 1969/70 and went back with the wife, the year Haley's Comet was visible down there. Good times!!! Cheers.

Thanks, originally from Motueka, which is near Nelson, I still go back almost every other year, heading there again in Feb 2024.

I'm assuming you weren't there in 1910 to see Halley's Comet so it must have been 1986, I was partying at the Unicorn Pub on the grounds of Expo back then, good times.
