My Pro Mariner charger is Not connected to engines. Both engines have there own alternators which charge batteries when i run. They are controlled by switches in cabin. I set them to which batteries(banks) I want to charge. When I return to my slip,or when at another marina with power, I plug in to 30amp power. This supplies me with power to run my house requirements (fridge,T.V., lights etc) and power to my charger which automatically keeps all batteries at a full charge. I always unplug 30 amp shore power before starting engines
