It has been proven... a single hook has more holding power than a treble!
But, I started with 2/0 treble, and worked my way down to #2 Gamakatsu; I have now worked my way back up to a #1/0 and have lost the "Gamakatsu" and went to "Owner". I have a ton of #2 Gamakatsu trebles, if you want to buy them.
I have been fishing two singles on my chovies for the past 2 seasons. Before a treble alone or a treble and a single. I currently prefer either treble alone or two singles.
single #1 treble for all my chovies. 1/0 seems to start affecting my roll unless I'm using jumbos. Single siwash for all my artificial.Really It's a matter of personal preference.
Oh and BTW,I am now a devout Owner hook user.Man they're good!
I personally like the 1/0 VMC perma steel (cone cut)they last a long time and super strong although I did have a guest last year bend 2 not 1 shanks out I have NEVER seen any hook do that we got the fish but it was bent so cut off the tips and put it into his hat saying that was his trophy for not letting "go of the reel"
