Anybody see any rockn’roll weather today? This morning I saw about 200 mergansers (never seen a flock that large!) coming in off the water and huddling out behind my house. You could sense something was up....then a few minutes later....tornadoe warning!

I stashed my guitars in the basement, put knives in drawers, hattened down the batches....sky went jet black, thunder rolls that pasted the dog to the cieling, big winds (maybe 40?)

Then fizzle....

I love fizzle but it sure looked like there was going to be some destruction going to happen when the winds hit and the water in the lagoon turned to smoke...lots of nearby power outages but we dodged that bullet.....for now

crazy! yeah here in Kelowna the sky went dark dark grey then blew the rain/sleet sideways for about 10 - 15 mins lol then done and sun came back out.
 
We had something similar here off UBC on Saturday afternoon at about 5:15. The sky turned a weird orange color then hail started falling. A couple of hours later I heard there was a water spout about 4 KM from our house out off Georgia Strait by YVR. UBC Golf Club recorded what appeared to be hurricane type winds at the same time with major shrapnel moving thru the air and trees uprooted. Weird times....

They just confirmed tornado did touch down there.

 
Great footage of UBC campus and those Kelowna pix! There was one near where I live in 2018 that tore roofs off houses. Did quite a bit of damage.....Weather Service didn’t warn anybody so I’m thinking the (false) alarm that was issued today was probably a meterologist with a trigger finger not wanting the liability of failing to warn for yet another one.....
