First time taking the boat this coming weekend. Was wondering if someone can share a good lingcod spots in sechelt inlet, narrows inlet or salmon inlet. I will have my downriggers and will try for salmon but I think it is diffult to catch salmon there this time of year. I heard there is some good lingcod spots but its such a big area it would be hard to find.

Look at your chart... drop offs from 30 to 100 ft where there is a reasonable amount of current. Rocks-- good, Mud, sand ?? fergetaboutit. (caveate- lings are found from shallow water to VERY deep.. finding them is part of the fun. Its called fishing! Good luck.

Yup, find some targets on your charts and go for it. Be careful to mind the rockfish conservation zones, there's a couple in the inlet, if you don't know the areas definitely look them up. Do not discount springs, when your tired of jigging get those downriggers wet and you may be rewarded.

I was up there on Sunday and no lings for me. Tried 9 mile were guys usually go but no love except a bunch of rockcod. I think that spot has been depleted. Don't waste your time with lures because there aren't enough there to make it worthwhile. Try herring or live greenling or flounder.
