hey everyone, i work for a company that has used a thunderjet for work purposes to move barges up and down a river....it has been worked pretty hard. But now the project is coming to a wind down and they are looking a bidding off the boat! i'm just curious if its worth bidding on if its not any good or not on the ocean....especially the WCVI??? any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks SpillyTalker

how big, how much freeboard?? room for a kicker bracket? definitely not the cheapest on gas but the boat itself usually is built solid

be careful-- a river boat isnt the best for the west coast. What is the stern deadrise? Jet or o/b .. all things you have to factor in.

I see they have an offshore model as well, so you will need to look at the hull type to get more specific feedback. I looked at the offshore models on the website and they look OK.

Jet power is obviously not your best choice, but many of the newer ones are built for outboard power.

you see the odd one in barkley sound mostly american boats so they do work just pick your days. you also see guys in car toppers as well

thanks guys, my biggest worry was the hull, whether it would be good or not on the coast, and secondly if i could get it cheap enough, and i mean real cheap, i would take the jet motor out and replace it with a fourstroke outboard!!which would free up some deck space...

just got the information on it! 2003 Thunderjet 21' Alexis Classic 350 CID port injected engine, 8 foot beam, fully closed cooling system, hamilton 2-12 pump with turbo impeller, suspenion front seats, reverse chine style hull, 80 gallon under floor fuel tank, half hard top, sliding window, 3 piece walk through window. alright i think thats it, hopefully...anymore information you guys can give would be awesome.....cheers!

what is the deadrise of the hull? mine is a rio classic 22 footer with 14 degree dead rise with an in board jet. my buddy has the same boat and we took them to the wcvi last year they handled well. your not going anywhere fast when its lumpy but it worked. just know when to turn back when the winds kick up. better safe than sorry. they worked for us.

Great motor and pump combo. How many hours on the hourmeter?
Did it have any salt use or was it strictly in the freshwater?

I use my inboard jet out of Bamfield all the time. Works great for me. Even been offshore a couple of times.
You just have to know the limits and play accordingly.[8D]
