Having travelled up and down the coast from California to Bristol Bay, Alaska, several times, I saw plenty of nasty weather with the Columbia Bar being the scariest. Yesterday reminded me that the old-timer that helped me break in on commercial boats years ago always said the most dangerous weather he had ever seen was right in the Gulf of Georgia. I hope none of the damaged boats I'm seeing in the media belong to any forum members.

Took the inflatable out for a run , more time in the air than in the water.

I saved an image from the Cam on Ogden Point, Friday, April 02, 11:45am. There was a Pilot boat going out in that storm ! Crazy stuff!. Later that after noon we motored across in side the harbor to fuel up our boat at the Victoria Marina fuel docks, the attendant told us we were only the 2'nd boat to fuel today, us and the Pilot boat. The Pilot boat captain said to the fuel dock attendant " I am to old for this shiit ! " Apparently the new Pilot boats are lighter than the old heavy boats and they slam more as the older boats plowed through better.

One more.. a video clip I just up loaded on U-tube from Clover point in Victoria. A few hours before I took this my folks were down there and it was much worse, water was completely white, the wind surfers were not out and all the birds were hunkered down laying flat on the grass.

I'm one of the guys that ride on that Pilot boat and climb the ladder in this weather. It may look bad but is nothing compared to Triple I off Prince Rupert.I will second the opinion that the gulf can be as bad as anywhere on the coast after 30 years of paddling back and forth.Cape Mudge (Campbell River) on a big flood and SE gales id as bad as it can be.Unfortunately automation has not helped as we hear cosistently from the daily reports "not available".Be safe[^][^]

spent my weekend up island - not so crazy in Parksville, but still crazy, skied on Saturday - just insanely perfect up there - probably best conditions I've ever skied on!

Great picture. Don’t think I would want to have had a new vehicle on that Ferry. I wonder if insurance would cover the long term rust damage.
