This is a good mid winter test of fish ID.... FA got it right.

The fact that they were caught through ice is mind boggling.
 
prolly not an Atlantic..............brown trout yes, lots of those in the great lakes and they look almost identical to Atlantics in the salt.
 
Interesting about the brown.. Definitely a possibility.

To me the tail makes it an Atlantic.... But who knows
 
Forked tail makes it an atlantic. Reading on line about the two. Didn't realize how similar the two are. But I do read a forked tail makes it an atlantic.

Could be wrong

Lets find the angler and ask him :)

I stand corrected......also did a little research. Apparently they are planting Atlantics in the great lakes now.

There are landlocked Atlantic salmon, they are called Ouananiche in Quebec.
