The Double Eagle Owner’s Thread

Hey fellow Eagle owners!
I thought this might be a good place to share ideas on how to get the most out of our boats.

I’ve had 3 of them…
2 @ 176’s and now a 185.

Let’s see some pics of your interiors and upgrades.

I’ll go first…
My favourite seating arrangement was my last 176 which is sleepers on the port and a single Tempress captain’s chair on a shockwave pedestal. Then you can swivel and face the rods while having control of the wheel

I am okay with one 9” screen but 2 x 7” was pretty luxurious.
Rod and net storage are always hard to come by so the three pack holders on the back is a good move.

Now in addition to those, I have front rails on the 185 so I have 4 x rail mount which singles which is good for the net and gaffe.
I really like the twin Scotty tube style rocket launchers on the downrigger. Then I can stack or have both rods pointing back.

Let’s see yours!
Ideas for halibut rod holders and best spot for cupholders etc please.

Cheers,
Stizz

I look forward to using mine this season. Finished it at the end of last season and had a few trips to work the bugs out. This season will be epic. Second picture is my dad and a good friend enjoying a day on the water

Nice job 👍

Had mine for 6 years now. Kinda like to think I have it sorta dialed. Always little tweaks I have a few cupholders. I used the stick on Scotty ones with their cups. I have a hard time drilling holes in her. Added a nauti cup holder as well for my flashers and tackle I’m using. I run a 6’ Scotty net. Fully extended (hell even collapsed), the thing has a lot of torque when vertical. I store it along the port side gunnel. In a rod holder when running, fully extended when fishing. Hoop fwd. No rods or anything goes on that side when fishing. Gaffs go in the motorwell (handle up) for quick access on the port side, then another gaff hooks into my nauti table. Don’t love having the rods alonng the rail getting splashed sometimes. Try to keep the cuddy clear and don’t like banging the reels/rod guides stuffing them into the gunnels.

83’ ex-RCMP 185 DE podded w/ 150/9.9 Yamaha’s. A fun project that’s kept me out of trouble the past couple of years. Highlights: raised hardtop, podded w/ new stringers, flr, foam, transom, custom seat boxes, new fuel saddle tanks, 2nd steer stn, ect…. The goal was a fishing machine for 2… I now know way more abt boat building than I ever wanted to - a rewarding grind. These things are never really done…. Happy to have it to the point I can use it and continue planning improvements - cuddy is on the list to finish off season. It will spend its summers in Gold River …. back in the lower mainland rest of the year. Cheers!

Very nice job.
How does your boarding ladder on your pod work? Does it fold under the swim grid or on top of it. How is it held in place?

Wow. Beautiful

Cheap Amazon EVA…. A bud put it down and it’s been holding up well over 3 seasons of blood and guts…. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Has 3M adhesive and easy to work with.
Curious if you can share specifically which Amazon Eva? I seriously browsed them a few weeks back, but the negative reviews about crumbling, colour transfer etc. Made me nervous. I just pulled the seat pedestals on my boat today, and am still on the fence between Eva or a paint on non-slip (Kiwi or Interdeck).

Yes it flips over and lives on top… the weight of the ladder and gravity hold it in place

HJDeck is what I used…. Various sizes available. Just made templates, and used a sharp knife. I like being able to be barefoot, kneel, put engine covers down, ect…I left room around edges to wash the decks down…. Gutters to carry the muck. . If u don’t like it it’s fairly cheap and you could go another route…. Committed if you go roll on route. My 2 bits
