out all day todaytill 50pm hardley any fish showing at the l Q fair bit of bait not many boats did not see any net action went tr bQin the afternoon fish everywere rolling some big smileys but all zippermouth, called it off at 5pm maybe afternnoon shift managed to connect..

to my knowledge... both the qualicum rivers offer a chance at big springs - but I also think the Big Q has a larger number of fish?

correct me if I am wrong...

names could have something to do with the size of the rivers... but who am I to say?

Did see a nice one about 22-25 caught at the Little Q yesterday, and know of many caught over 30 at the little Q, so go figure.

but you are right otherwise I suppose.

Went and fished the little Q on Saturday morning. We did manage to boat a 24# spring late in the morning. As far as I could tell it was the only one that was caught. Heard another spring and coho were caught right in front of French Creek harbour. Wind picked up and we got out of there. This was the first time we have launched and fished from FC and the local folks that fish this area were great help. We asked some fellow fisherman for advice and the info that was given to us was helpful. It would have been nice to see more nets out but it just didn't happen. Don't know if the guy's that kindly gave us help are on this board but a big thank you to them.

If you go there, bring 5 tonnies as it's hard to find change at 6 am.
Failing that, a note on the dash telling the staff that you promise to pay on return will prevent a ticket. Just make sure you do pay.

hit the big q and little q this afternoon, the fish were thick at the big q and starting to thicken up at the little. unfortunately they were all at the hatchery's jumping gates. don't know how we missed so many fish...hopefully there are more to come because i would love to go out a few more times. tight lines

I saw one in the pool at Big Q a couple of weeks ago that was all of 40 pounds if he wasn't actually there. He had a buddy swimming with him that had about a 4 inch silver spoon of some sort dangling from his side near the dorsal fin.
