Re TFOs- Have used 2 over past 6 years- have worked great as far as I'm concerned- every bit as good as Islander MR2. Butter smooth drag, smooth action and easy to do cleaning.
I would recommend based on my personal experiences.

I used two TFO salmon mooching reels for a season and I found that the drag nobs stuck a lot, generally over the course of a 1-2 week stunt if the units were not very carefully maintained (way more than my islanders) the drag nob would seize and no longer be easily adjustable.
Just before the end of the season I finally sold them at a loss and returned to using islander's MR3's.

We have been selling many TFO products with confidence, but the original Pacific Moochers were not very good with details already posted above that I agree with. I had sold pairs that were returned within a week, and I ended up having to sell at a loss....
I am not familiar with the new ones, if better or not.

On another Topic, I think some of their Fly Rods hit a great part of the market with cost and quality...

There will be a new 9' TFO moocher on the market sometime soon
that is light weight and strong with a diameter of less than
1/2" where the rod joins the cork.
I tried out the test model and it is very nice !

Do you know if they did a blend of Glass and Graphite on this one, or is it all graphite?

Sounds like it may be similar to the Trophy 9' moocher, that is a nice light rod for ultra light trolling and Bucktailing.

We'll be ordering a few of the new TFO's for sure.

Even the originals are great once you replaced the original cork with the new cork. I sent an e-mail and the new cork arrived in one week. Haven't had another problem in three years. My old man and brother have MR2's and the TFO's are just as great in my experience.

I believe it's a composite T.F. , should be in production soon !

I have seen good and bad mine has never missed a beat and I have caught halibut ling and plenty of salmon on it while I was in the Charlottes. My partners dissolved after one year fell literally to pieces we took them apart and there were noticeable machining and gap differances, made on a friday??.
