tent/sansum

Has anyone fished or heard of/think it would be worth a shot to try fishing that underwater bank/reef to the east of bare point that the rca cuts through? Looks promising going from 71-97 up to 20(meters?)

12 years ago I used to fish that rock, nada. Zip, zero zilch. I'd run to Porlier if I was in that neck of the woods.

Paul - I have the garmin bluechart software, you can buy it / order it online or from most boating places i think.

One rainy Easter weekend day in about 1975 after getting skunked at Tent, we were heading back to the launch in Chemainus and decided to drop the gear again and troll in the trough between that reef and Bere Point (probably near the 79m spot). We got 8 feeders in an hour or two. Never jigged that reef because we used to beach the boat and throw old crocodile spoons for a quick limit of rockfish from the red triangle in the center of the RCA.
Not a very useful story, but those places are where I learned to fish and bring back some good memories. A trip to Porlier (the Gap) was always the big adventure in the summer in a 16 foot boat.
Got a 32 lb spring in the kelp on the outside of Valdes with a surface bucktail once.

Tubber nice story. It is great to read something on SFBC and it sparks a memory. Been there.

Nedarb2 A bit off topic but can you upload the RCA to the boats GPS?

This program you can insert routes, so ive just gone onto the dfo website, and put routes in with the given gps coordinates of the closed areas. You can then upload this information onto your GPS, or run this software off of a laptop for example and take the laptop outon the boat with you (which is what im going to do). there is no direct upload of closed areas with just a hit of a button lol, that would be too easy ;)
