HALLOWE’EN

With Hallowe’en fast approaching, I have decided to change things up a bit this year.

Instead of getting all dressed up in a scary costume of some sort and buying the normal candies etc to give to the kids who are adventurous enough to go forth and try their hand at Trick or Treating, I decided to give them an early life lesson in what is to come their way later in time. I decided to get dressed up like the Federal and Provincial government decision making politicians who we are all familiar with. I did not buy any candies or anything else to give away.

On Hallowe’en evening when the kids come knocking looking for treats, my wannabe politician will meet them at the door. However, instead of giving the kids anything, just like real politicians my “Mr Dress-Up” will take their bag of goodies from them and take it inside. The kids will have to stay outside in the cold and dark. From there, the “politician” will sort through the treat bag and take at least half of everything in there before giving the leftovers back to the kids who are being adventurous and trying hard to get ahead. When the formerly happy and cheerful kid examines his bag only to discover so much of what he has worked hard for is now gone, he looks up at the politician and asked him what happened to the rest of his stuff.

The politician then tells the kids that he took at least half of what the kid had worked so hard for and is going to keep some for himself and then give the rest to other people who are too lazy and unmotivated to work towards getting their own candies out Trick or Treating……. Sound familiar???
