We returned from our fishing trip a couple days ago. We fished from Aug 19-28. The weather was absolutely amazing the entire trip. We did not have one day of real wind, rain, or fog. The one day the fog did role in during thet morning the fishing was phenominal.
Overall the fishing was quite good when you found the fish. If the bite was off at malcolm in the morning, it was off. Nobody would catch a spring, and the number of killer whales in the area definitely did not help. However we had the most success for springs midday in baronet passage or flower island. We would usually land 3-4 springs each afternoon, with a mix of wild coho and the odd sockeye. We landed 7 springs from 29-32 pounds during the trip, one was a hatchery fish, and several more springs from 15-25 pounds. We also caught a halibut 160 lbs, and another 50 lber.
The sockeye were amazing this year, and many people who did not pay close attention to detail and could not catch springs fished for the sockeye. One morning we landed 8 sockeye on anchovies
All in all an amazing trip, and can not wait until next year.
