TATSHENSHINI "Long Ago Person" Findings

In 1999, an amazing discovery was made near the Tatshenshini River. The remains and belongings of a man buried in ice for hundreds of years were discovered melting out of a remote glacier and became the focus of study in a collaborative project by the community and scientists. Now the Royal BC Museum has published the findings. A rather interesting read: http://www.royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/KDT/default.aspx

Excellent read.
One has to marvel at the chances of all the little parts that came together for the discovery. Getting in for the hunt, low snow pack, not traversing the glacier but going around and being investigative when they stumbled upon the chance find of a stick. One thing I did notice was they only wanted to prove the DNA background to which native groups. It would be interesting to knowa little further as to where his relatives go now but as they said that they were only looking to link him.
