hittin the vancouver saltchuck tomorrow am

dont know where to go, any fresh reports? send me in any direction!!

I think with the wind that doesn't seem to want to quit I'd try hole in the wall. I think some springs are coming in from up Howe Sound.

I haven'e been out in several days but Howe sound was pretty slow yesterday from the whole to Newman Creek (and this morning from what I heard at the marina today) Yesterday a 33 was taken at the hole in the afternoon but that was the only fish apparently. Last report from Defence/Porteau was slow but that was a few days ago. West Bowen too windy so no reports I have heard for almost a week . West van had a few coho taken this this morning but not hot. Some good size Chinook have been taken in the harbour this week but not many.
Howe Sound should get better soon - other than the hole to Newman, Cowans/seymour Bay/Roger curtis and Salmon rock may have fish soon. T10 had some fish taken on last sat but not many. Its been too windy since then.

If this wind dies and we get out of the sound I'd think Gabriola would be the best bet. T10 - sandheads may have some fish too.

Last Friday picked up a 10 lb red hatchery mid day at Waterfall but was slow as I was out 5 hrs.
T10 was good on Saturday afternoon . I was out for only 1.5 hrs to get my chinook limit - hit 4 fish in that time, a jack released, a 23.5 lb red and 28 lb white and lost a 4th which was a good fish. Photos to follow ...
BTW...my old handle was Keta863 but still pretty new to SFBC chatroom

Hi Guys ,Here are the photos I promised - Friday at the waterfall, a small Chinook and the two from the T10 on a very short trip Saturday afternoon.

Oh yeah forgot, Dan the Man....3 of the 4 hits at T10 sat. were on chovy at 83'. The released jack hit a green/glow spackleback hootchie on the surface while setting gear. The waterfall fish at 145' scraping bottom with chovy/glow teaser.

Here is the july report so far from T10/hole in wall/ cap, howe sound etc.

Hole in the Wall I fished Hole in the Wall for several hours after work. Had the lines in the water by about 1700h, and fished from the hole to Newman Creek and back, with a couple of extra loops around Bill's Point. Finally, after several hours dragging the same anchovies around, we finally hooked a good fish at 2000h. We were almost immediately sealed. almost got it back a few times, and eventually the bugger actually grabbed it by the tail one last time just as the fish was 1/2 way into the net, and he broke us off.

Mouth of Fraser Started at T-10 about 8:00, and fished until noon. 10 minutes after starting we hit a 20 lb red "peahead" (blue/green/glow teaser, 75', on an 8' leader). About 11:15 we lost a second fish on the same combo a couple miles north of Sandheads. That was it for action, but some decent signals. i would hae liked to be there on a flood.....

Jul 7 Associates:
Hole in the Wall Three boats fishing the "Hole" for the morning each had a shot at a good fish late morning, though only one of them landed a 20 lb white. "Stella" hootchie hit two of them...one at 133'.

Mouth of the Fraser Fished 3 hours this afternoon in very calm seas ( for a change) in the areas where I hit fish yesterday. One rod pounded hard but the fish was gone before could get to it (anchovy/glow teaser 55' just south of marker at drop off ). Trolled south and north but nothing doing.

West Vancouver Went out in the afternoon and it was pretty similar to our results yesterday. 5-6 fish on with only two landed. One hatchery and one wild. Same depths and same lures.

Mouth of the Fraser Fished T10 for 1.5 hrs mid day. Started at 11:30, my first hit 15 minutes later, a 23.5 lb (red). For the next hour released and undersize, lost a good fish and then landed my second keeper, a 28 lb (white) . Quit at 1 pm after landing that last fish. 3 of the hits were 83' on chovy/glow head and undersize was on spackleback hootchie while still on the surface. Some other boats hitting fish as well.

West Vancouver We got the lines down around 8:00 off West Van and had our first hit at about 8:20. It was a little sporadic but we had 4-5 fish on before we left at 12:00 and kept two hatchery fish. Our action was between 25-35 feet on a gypsy spoon and a white hootchie.

Ambleside (West Van) Fished the afternoon flood off Ambleside. Lost a nice Chinook off the Jetties, then later we trolled west to the Pink Appts. where we released a couple nice wild Coho.

Hutt Is. to Waterfall / Tunstall Bay Started at 9:45. A couple passes on the Hutt flats with nothing (some decent bait ) trolled to waterfall and thats where I hit a 70 cm hatchery red ( anchovy/glow teaser on bottom at 145'). Nothing for over an hr more there and at third marker so moved to Tunstall. Nothing there but decent bait showing (got a 11" herring). Quit at 2:45 after trolling over to Roger Curtis.

Eastern Gabriola Got blanked in the wind this morning. Hit the Grande at 3:30 in the afternoon after it calmed. Lost a nice fish a 85 feet. Got a 12 and 15 bottom bumping in 160 to 180 off the waterfall on green/white Coyote.

Hole in the Wall Lost a decent fish, released a Jack, and had another hit I'd say was a Jack. All early before the low slack. Fished chovy at 63', 83', and 103'

Jul 1 Predator:
Seymore Bay / Hole in the Wall Started an afternoon trip in Seymore Bay @ 1:30. Made a pass up to Cowans and back to the "green door". good bait showing up near Cowans, but the water was too rough for my folks, so we moved to the Hole at 3:15. Madde a couple passes in tight to the Hole/sailboat, and good bait showing, but no hits, so trolled up to Newman Ck., and back to sunset without a touch. There was a confirmed 33 lb white taken off the "M" mark at 4:00 @ 110'. The only fish I heard of getting hit..
