T-dub owners (Yamaha TW200) input

Ya I used too live on the island the deer are small. Any elk tags on the island these days? You could say I'am on the main land currently living in the NWT.

Yeah there is but it's still like getting hit by lighting getting one lol. NWT must be cool (pun intended) for game :). Hauling out a big caribou or Muskox would be cool! I can see where a quad up there would be good for sure.

My opinion is the Yamaha TW is overpriced and outdated. They haven't done much to change it over the years, and some might argue that it is cause it isn't needed, but I'd say they are just taking advantage of a cult like following and maximizing their profits. Both Honda, Suzuki and KTM make much more nimble and modern bikes in the same price. Try before you buy is the name of the game here. And I have tried and owned many bikes so I'm not just being an internet know it all.

I agree fully that they are over priced Dave. I've owned Honda's, Yamaha's, Kawasaki's (both KX250 and KLR650's), and have been on a few bikes in my life.

I don't agree that they are outdated. I think all the other guys are missing out on a market (small be it) of folks like myself that want a bike like the t-dub. If that Honda I posted up was available up here myself and many others would be all over it. Simple is sometimes good. I personally can't stand all the plastic BS on most of the major's bikes all the way down to the 50's. There are no utilitarian bikes left out there. The t-dub is it with the major manufacturer's. I want to ride slow, I want to put METAL racks on it, I want to be able to Barney Rubble it up hills with both feet on the ground, I want be able to go so slow that I can actually look around me instead of having to look straight in front of me doing mach whatever:rolleyes:. All the major brands have their offroad bikes looking like motocross or enduro's. Bring back the Honda Trail 110!!!:) (even better, make it a 125 ).

I am in the smaller market and this smaller market has suffered big time in the last decade with motorcycle manufacturer's:(.

If you are looking for a smaller bike, consider the XT 250 or XR 200. Both those bikes offer more modern motors, adjustable suspension, better braking, and better gearing. I have ridden the TW200 and the suspension sucks. It has good torque in 1st but 2nd and 3rd are not great. IMO the TW200 is designed for beginners and/or short riders. I do recall seeing you at an event in Victoria, and you are not a small guy. Try before you buy.

I like Jeffy's report on the experience with the bike better. At least he didn't call me fat lol :D.

The TW definitely has its place on the trail , nothing wrong with it id love one.. But i think i like the more nimble approach, been doing quite a bit of reading on bikes the last couple nights in camp and am trying to decide between the Honda and Yamaha

I think there was a stunt double used in the filming of that video and a different motor cycle in disguise with TW200 decals all over it...... :)

To put this thread is perspective he is looking for a replacement for a Honda trail 90. It sounds like the Honda did the job well but was getting unreliable. A TW is more bike in every way. I think it will work well it's only disadvantage is I suspect it is a lot heavier than the old 90. I don't find it hard too appreciate a good pure utility machine. I look forward too seeing one set up for hunting.
