Swiftsure Banks?

I was wondering how important it is to pick slow tides for Hali fishing in July out at the Banks off of renfrew? I am looking at booking a trip while I am up in Sooke area, looks like some monster tides the middle of July! Do guys still do pretty well out there?

I don't think tides make a huge difference, less current is easier, less drift. If you're fishing a full day, you can time your hali fishing to the low current part of the day and chase salmon the rest of the time.

Yes, July is primetime and fishing can be most excellent! For halibut, they are generally smaller chickens, but plentiful. And if the salmon are running, you're in for a treat...
