Storing fish

I'm sure bagging the fish is fine also, but commercial boats have always directly iced their fish in the holds
(less bags)
if there was any problem with deteriation of product they wouldn't do it.
 
The ice a commercial boat is sea ice and is way colder that what we could ever do in the tiny coolers we use they dont get much melting going on , you dont want your fish "sitting" in water it will go mushy if stored to long what your doing with bags is fine but if its only 200 bucks to get it processed yeah thats a bit high but whats your fish worth?? getting there fishing,gas,booze,food, etc its just another expense and stress you dont need ... just saying

Lots of good advice here. I will be contacting them about use of their freezer and plan accordingly.
