Stinger Hooks

So I'm going to try adding a stinger hooks to my lures/teaser setups, and I'm interested to know exactly what hooks folks use for the trailing hook: What size, colour, make, type, and number do folks use. And if it matters, I'm rigging for springers. It's also worth knowing how the stinger hook might change for different situations.

Any feedback is appreciated, thanks. :)

Remember, it's called "fishing," not "catching."

I find a treble stinger adds to much weight and bulk to the chovy - just a small owner octupus style for me.

anything else is a single hook for me

WCVI - 1/0 treble, 3/0 single stinger (used to use #2, but lost to many fish after hook up?)
Puget - 3/0 single, 3/0 stinger

The stinger will will hook 95% of the fish!

you might have read that wrong charlie - I use a treble with a single stringer on chovy, I meant that using 2 trebles on a chovy rig is too bulk and heavy. It adds to much weight to the roll and adds bulk to the profile.

other then that always just one hook.

Yes, I was talking about anchovy setups with teaser heads. With Port Renfrew in mind (I fish Renny for week, Vancouver mostly, and Port Hardy when I can swing it) I have tied up some black 3/0 Owner hooks as stingers to go with 1/0 VMC treble hooks.

For some reason I like the idea of a black hook as a stinger instead of a silver one although it probably doesn't matter. I've heard some like using red hooks for stingers.

It's interesting to hear what other folks are using. Wolf put me onto the VMC hooks, and they have worked very well</u>. With so many choices in hooks, it's great to learn from someone else's experience as well as your own.

Thanks for all feedback.

Yeah, I use the blood red gammies for a trailer. I think they are 4/0. The first time I used them I caught my biggest fish to date.

I have tried it but found it to a hassle as I change my leader soooo much if I dont get them on the main hook the fish was probablly to small anyways also found them to not make what I do to the anch. more of a hinderance.
Red yes i still use the same VMC hooks and they are tough but last year up guiding i accually had a client bend out 2 of the hooks I couldnt believe it thats the first time ever seen it he of course said what happened and me beoing the smart butt I can be "uuuuuummmm just a wee bit too much tension a little heavy" LOL we both laughed and then proceed to cut off the tips and jammed into his hat as a keep sake LOL LOL
