Steveston Herring Sale Jan 11, 2025 - Fishermen Helping Kids With Cancer

still have a bunch left from last year lol. One bag goes a long way when you don’t get out fishing much 🤣

Things are in full swing here down at the Steveston Harbour Authority waterfront. We have been bagging fish since 745 this morning, the parade of cars coming through to pick up their herring is nonstop. What a beautiful day on the water. Thank you all for donating and supporting this wonderful cause.

Got my bait for the year and already vac sealed . Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers for the great cause .
Got mine done too. Great cause, nice people. Been supporting this for a number of years. Much easier now than when we all had to line up with our coolers in the old, cold building.

They talked a lot today about the new method of doing things. And how much better it was. It was my first year of volunteering.

Beautiful cause, excellent people

The quality of the fished looked way better this year. I still had lots left from last year so I opted out this time around. Kicking myself now after seeing all of those intact scales.

At the very bottom of those huge plastic totes, by the time you get down there to bag the last ones the remainder of the scale content is noticeable. It doesn’t mean they’re necessarily missing from the fish in that 20 lb. bag you buy, but more of a cumulative thing from all of them from that huge tote. I do agree with you, though, the bulk of the fish looked really good, and there were some huge herring in there. We saw a big Pilchard in there too.

Any herring that falls over and lands on the ground is thrown out.
