Sooke update

Started a bit late at Otter, 2:15.(Tide change at 3:15.) Had 3 within 1/2 hour but lost one to some dozy bu%ger who didn't swing out. We were right between first and second rock between 50 and 60 feet down. After I got my line out from the guys prop I couldn't find the bite again in close so I moved out with everyone else but couldn't get another.(tried deeper out there) I think if you're there a couple of hours before the pm high slack you should get your limit. We're going to try Secretary on low slack tomorrow am.Wolf-tried you on 68, what do you hang on?

Well the fish are still there, minus 5. Dropped the gear yesterday at noon at Otter and in 2 hours we had 5 springs in the boat! Awesome bite. Spent the next 2 hrs looking for our 6th but the wives called so we couldn't finish our limit. Biggest one was in the upper twenties.

The fish were all over but most were deep........70 to 110. A couple weeks ago we limited with the gear much shallower.

While about the flattest and nicest I've ever seen Sooke today, nothing to be had in my boat....one hit that ripped the leader at Beechy (40 lb test too!?!?) and that was all the excitement I had (6:30-10:30). Chovie in haze w/green silver flash on one, chovie in green glow & plaid flash on the other. Tried all over from 50-100 feet and near shore to 150m out to no avail. Got fed up and run a jellyfish hootch as well, still no luck. Now don't you boys tell me they went shallow again (my finder sucks for bait/fish echoes, only pick up depth)! Only saw 3 others caught out there, so while I don't get the big picture (no cb), I don't think I was alone. Nothing in at the launch either, most still out.

Fished Otter this morning from 9-noonish, lots of boats but only saw 3 caught fishing around 70 feet. Must be a later afternoon bite with the flood happening. Maybe tomorrow later in the day is in order.

Hit Trap and Secretary Saturday afternoon .... picked up a white spring at 29lbs.

Seemed pretty slow for the most part.

Any more news out there between Possession and Beechy (heck, even Otter Pt)? Heard the Sooke R bunch were holding at Possession - any truth to that? Updates appreciated as I hope to hit the waters this weekend!

i heard otter has been ok, but i havn't been out for a week. i'm goin tomarrow, and will probly be at otter unless someone posts a better idea. see ya out there tips up.

Thanks Captain Dudds

Looks like a good afternoon tide. We'll be at Otter also from around 12:00 on. Be in the father inlaws boat. 17.5 ft Double Eagle. White boat/ blue canvas/ yammy motors.
Hope to see you out there. We'll have the radio on 68.

Good luck!

we were out at otter, for the afternoon. it was pretty slow, we got a chum and lost a spring by the boat, about 20, but thats it. i only saw a few fish landed and there were about 30 boats. the spring was at 90' on a chovie. the chum was my little cousins first salmon, so i convined him your supposed to kiss your first fish ever, it took about 10 mins, but he ended up landing one on the head of a slimy, ugly dog. it was a thing of beauty.

Thanks Captain Dudds
