Received notification about the new derby today.

Sounds like it could be huge.

Sounds good except for the $6000.00 entry fee

Although it does include 3 nights accomodation, the $6000 price tag
will keep me and most of my friends out of this derby...
looks like they are trying to appeal to corporate teams.

Yeah... pricey, but, for a team of 4 guy's at $1500/ea for a crack at $100/K?

Lot worse odds in Vegas!

With 40-75 teams, the probability of winning is 1.3-2.5%. A lot better odds than the lottery, but still a gamble.

Quite an ambitious derby for Sooke, potentially raises a bunch of money for salmon enhancement. I hope it flies.

I'd guess most boats will be chartered, so a good opportunity for the guides...head to head for the big bucks and the big bragging rights.

$100K for 1 st 50K 2nd and 25K for 3rd Place. It will only fly if there are 40 teams and a max of 75. Your odds are not to bad. If you fish Sooke alot you are already ahead of the game..

Hope this derby flies as it sure would be a welcome addition.
With this much money on the line, not to mention spectacular fishing,
accomodation and services, it has a real chance of making it.
