Sockeye in Port Renfrew?

I’ve only been fishing in BC since moving here 6 years ago. I’ve fished Port Renfrew a fair bit over the last four years. My question to those who’ve fished here much longer is whether one can successfully target sockeye from Port Renfrew? I see dfo has opened them up til Aug 25

Haven’t targeted sockeye in renfrew in years, (closed) not sure how the salmon closure in the straight will affect where we can get into them, east of east point is open, I use to just go out and use my sounder to find schools and drop gear on top of them, easy pickings, the closure kind of affects the location you can fish for them, 350fow to 700fowbis where the usually swim by, will definitely be giving it a shot, looking for seine boats is a way of finding where they are at, but not sure if they are exempt from the closure, the regs says no commercial or rec boats,

Thanks Brutus and T. Much appreciated the local knowledge. I’ve got buddies from Ontario coming to visit me in L Cow and we’ve rented in pt Renfrew for three days next week. Targeting sockeye east of east pt in 350 FOW sounds like a blast one morning. Might also be 350 FOW in front of Campers where salmon closure juts out a bit.

Ya depending where they are moving through, lots of humpys and coho too,, don’t be scared to go deep for Sox’s, I’ve done really good 125ft to 150 ft on the cables. Also if you do go around the seine boats, be careful some of the seine set are looooong
