Sockeye hot season?

What time is the best fishing for sockeye in the canal? I know that they run starting in end of june but is that the best time?

Mid to late august is a good time. They start to show early June.The run is estimated at 500,000.

Sorry to differ there Kelly, but the Sockeye season is all but over in August.
Last year, July 23th was the last day for retentionin portions of 23-1. and by then they were not really good quality to keep anyways.
Run peaks at the end of June and this years run looks to be about 40% smaller than last year so limits looks to be 2 per day and will monitored on a weekly basis.
This is what I have heard. If any one else has better info, plus correct me.

Do sockeye spawn earlyer because they need to make longer trips to the lakes to spaw? Was the reason for them staying in the chuck so long the warm river? I caught some in early september.

we've been doing sockeye for the last 6 years in alberni, and we never bother to much after mid july.
