Sky rocketing fuel prices

I consider fuel to be the cheapest part of boating. I run twin 250hp outboards. When I consider insurance ,maintenance, moorage costs, repair costs, new gear I think I must have etc etc etc ..fuel cost is the cheapest part of fishing

you must not run that boat much!!!
There's a huge difference where you fish, inside guys don't burn as much as
WCVI offshore, like fishing out of Tahsis etc....

If your running couple hours a day for a week I'm sure it's going to impact more than you realize!

I don't really know what to expect for fuel usage as I just got my boat. My last boat was a 19' aluminum lake boat with a F150 that sipped fuel. Now I have moved up to a bigger 21' HT boat and it has a F200 and a kicker. Going to be fishing the inside this year while I figure everything out so shouldn't be too bad. Still bites to be paying $1.50/ltr. especially being retired, no pay raises, lol

I figure each fish I catch per year is worth $1000 per fish lol

Ha, Ha. Many folks don't realize what it cost to fish. After buying my first boat about 4 years ago, a good friend from Edmonton said to me, "Man, you are so lucky to be ably to get your fish for free." I had just paid over 60K for the boat, trailer and to have it fitted with gear for fishing. Told him it was gonna be a long long time before I'm anywhere close to free. LOL. Worth every penny though to be able to go on the water any time I feel like it. A fish is just a bonus, especially when I get to see a friends or one of my grandkids haul one in.

I hope it goes through the roof, then maybe we can get rid of Turdo and the wit brothers and get Canada and BC back on track

High fuel prices are DFO's/FED's well thought out plan to reduce sportfishing pressure on all stocks so the Southern Orcas will make a miraculous resurgence in #s and the way they will save all fish stocks in BC's waters.
;):p:cool::rolleyes:

Yes there are websites that show the cheapest. Gas Buddy is most well known. Keep in mind that most gas stations are the same price -or within a few cents of each other, so driving around in attempt to save a few cents, may cost more then what you are trying to save.

I always thought the gas buddy app would be the perfect platform to use to co-ordinate a targetted gas boycott. have them monitor the gas stations in a town/city that had the highest average price of fuel for the week, month or what have you and ask the users of the app to have that company (shell, esso, or whichever company was selling gas the highest) boycotted the next week or month. It could be the first message that would come up when when a person opened up the app. A target. I bet that would get the gas companies attention in a hurry.... might even make them a bit more competitive...

Vancouver and Victoria now have the highest gas prices of any major cities in North America and likely in the Western Hemisphere and disproportionate further increases are expected in the next few days to make the disparity larger. Aren't we special.

Suncor Edmonton, IOL strathcona (edmonton), Shell scotford (Edmonton area), Suncor Baseplant (fort mac), Syncrude (fort mac), and others are all down for scheduled maintenance. Some majors and some minor. One of the biggest shutdown seasons ever for the oilsands maintenance. Add that to the hypocritical attitude of a lot of BC, lower mainland taxes, and Government policies I'm not surprised on pricing.

One thing I know is I'll still be on the water. Kicker might see a few extra hours ha.

Makes electric a more viable option. Looking at a plug in hybrid in the next couple of months, failing that a plain hybrid. Big oil may be shooting itself in the foot, but will hydro be any better in the long run?

I was planning to sell my boat with the 50 hp Honda and upgrade to a bigger power. Maybe I should hold off until the “ major maintenance schedule” is over! :p
