I have never contributed to them. The only NHL game I ever witnessed was free tickets lol. My most memorable hockey game that I watched was on natural ice and college league in Sask. That was a good hockey game.

Yup. If we had 'take a locked out NHLer to work day', it wouldn't be long till they agreed 50/50 of 3.6 billion isn't all that bad!!!!! Lol

If my employer asked me to take a 22% salary reduction so that the fat cat owners and league could make more money and save the teams in cities where the residents don't even care about hockey, I'd tell them where to go too. Gary Bettman ef'd up when he moved the teams into these markets thinking the USA was the future of the NHL, and now he wants the players to suffer. IMO, it's more about the principal than it is about the $.

Are you suggesting that the players are not "fat cat" themselves. All of the suspects hiding behind the NHLPA spokesman are not doing too badly.

Greed begets greed. This is at another level complety. Our yearly salaries are rounding errors for these guys.

And yet it's ok to you that they make $40k a work shift?

Ha Ha!! What hypocrisy!!

These players have worked very hard to get where they're at in hockey. They are the lucky few who actually made it. They sacrifice their bodies and their brains to entertain the crowds. The players are the ones that create the revenues, so why are they expected to only take 50% of that revenue? A players career avg is 5.6 seasons. Doesn't give them much time to bank some money.

I know they make loads of money. The owners and league also make loads of money for investments. I guess I just respect the players more. They earned that money more than the league and owners did.

i dont think they should earn that much. I know they worked hard to get there and all that.
I cant take my family to watch a game. The costs are huge for 4 tickets, and not in the bleeds. The game has lost touch with the average family. So when i think poor (fill in the name) doesnt want to play for 5.6 million, because he feels he should earn 6.7 million, i dont feel sorry for them. If a ticket to the game is 95 with whoever earning 5.6, you can say that ticket will be worth 114 or so if the salary is 6.7.
I'm not including the ferry or hotel, because i used to live in Calgary, and i went to a few games there.
NHL hockey, as great as it is, is not for the average family anymore, and its because the salaries have gone through the roof. Thats what bugs me about this whole thing.
