Shipping fish to US

Had some friends up this weekend catch a whack of cap springs, got them packed in 2lb bags by the daily catch on commercial drive. Their ready for pick up, how do I go about shipping them down to Los Angeles area?

I would certainly freeze them before shipping.
The UPS store can provide an insulated shipping box if you don't have one.
Send via UPS express service.
Should get there still nicely frozen.

Awesome thanks guys. they are frozen already. will take them straight from the processor to UPS.

The lodge's used sealed ice packs if it is fresh but its not. So being that it is frozen and packaged all you need a stryo cooler linded with plastic/plastic bag inside of a waxed box and a over night courier. UPS does this all the time for all the lodges. NO DRY ICE NEEDED. It's is very easy. This includes traveling with frozen/packaged fish to the US. I do it and so do other family members every year.. Don't worry about it.. A cooler in a waxed box at any fishing store should coat less then $30.

Packaged as such it will last 24hrs or more even in the desert. I know.....

Good thing the Canadian dollar dropped below the US dollar today......it's gonna be expensive for them.

Demco....you anti-Canadian donkey....you should have had them take it with them and check the coolers; would be WAY cheaper than they'll pay as opposed to shipping it down to Orange County.

Demco.....I should add.....don't ship UPS; not sure if it's as bad going south as shipping north but they could get dinged with brokerage fees AND have the fished tied up in customs.

May be better to ship it Air Canada, Purolator or FedEx but DEFINITELY check first; it would be a shame to have that fish sitting in a customs warehouse waiting for clearance as that sweet stanky Capilano white spring was dripping out the cooler and the box on to the floor of a warehouse!!!

Thanks guys, I just assumed they wouldnt be able to take a box of fish onto the plane with them. Good to learn all this for next time I guess. I will avoid UPS I guess and try Fedex.

***I will be heading to LA for canadian thanksgiving in the middle of October. Maybe I should just pay for extra luggage and bring it on the flight with me? They're paying me back for any shipping costs so it doesn't matter too much, just want it to get to their hands still frozen.

PS- pippen, I can bring you back a Corey Perry Ducks jersey shirt or Willie Mitchell Kings jersey shirt from that trip.

Just got a quote from Fedex to get a 70lb box there overnight -$500. haha not gonna happen, Im thinking I should just pay the airline for an extra piece of luggage when I fly down in October.

Demco: see if shipping quote is less if you went to Pt Roberts...maybe extra is a customs issue?
And if you're flying to LA, check out Allegiant out of Bellingham...stupid cheap.
